		<description>Detergent helps loosen dirt and grime so that it can be washed away by the water.  However, detergent does not kill bacteria.  I agree that it does aid in the process of getting it off the clothes.  As a germ killer, it isn&#039;t very effective.  That being said, I have not yet washed any of my kids clothes without detergent.  I am going to try, though, and see how it goes.
